The short version
Tax Days stores your trips, jurisdictions, and location readings on your device. We don't run servers that hold your day-count data, we don't sell or share it with advertisers, and we don't know where you've been. If you turn on iCloud sync, your data is synchronised through your private CloudKit container, and Parra cannot read it.
What we collect
- Trips, jurisdictions, and rules, stored on your device in a local SwiftData database. If you enable iCloud sync (Pro), this data is synchronised via your private CloudKit container.
- Location readings, when you grant location permission, Tax Days periodically checks your coarse location (city-level accuracy) to determine which jurisdiction you're in. Readings stay on your device and are used only to compose trip records.
- Subscription status, when you purchase Tax Days Pro, Apple handles the transaction and we receive a signed receipt confirming entitlement. We never see your payment method.
- Diagnostic crash reports, if you opt in to share analytics with app developers via Apple's system-level settings, we receive anonymised crash and performance data through App Store Connect. We never receive identifiable user data.
What we don't collect
- No account, email, phone number, or social profile.
- No advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers, no SDKs that profile you.
- No background telemetry of which screens you visit or how often you open the app.
- No copy of your trips or location history on our servers.
How we use your data
The data on your device is used exclusively to power the app's features: counting days, computing residency thresholds, generating reports, and sending you alerts. Because nothing is transmitted to us, we cannot use it for anything else.
Third parties
- Apple, handles authentication, In-App Purchases, push-notification delivery, and (optionally) iCloud sync. Apple's own privacy terms apply.
- No advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or data brokers.
Your rights
Because all data lives on your device, you control it. You can:
- Export your data from Settings → Data → Export.
- Delete your data from Settings → Data → Delete All, or by deleting the app.
- Revoke location or notification access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Disable iCloud sync from Settings → iCloud.
EU and California residents have additional rights under GDPR and the CCPA. Because we do not hold your data on our servers, the practical effect is that those rights are satisfied by your control over the app and your iCloud account.
Children
Tax Days is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app and reflected in the "last updated" date above.
