Accessibility

Our commitment

Tax residency is a high-stakes subject, and knowing where you stand shouldn’t depend on how you see, hear, or interact with your device. Tax Days is built to work with the assistive technologies people actually rely on, and we audit the app against each of them before every release that touches the interface.

Supported accessibility features in the iOS app

VoiceOver
Every screen is navigable with VoiceOver. Controls carry descriptive labels, day counts and rule progress are spoken as values (for example “230 of 183 days, 125 percent used, exceeded”), cards and list rows read as single elements instead of fragments, section headings are reachable through the heading rotor, and closing a sheet returns focus to the control that opened it.
Voice Control
Every interactive element has a speakable name that matches or closely follows its visible text, so tapping, swiping, and dictation work throughout the app without falling back to overlay numbers.
Larger Text (Dynamic Type)
The app uses the system text styles and scaled metrics everywhere, and supports Dynamic Type through the largest accessibility size (AX5, roughly 310% of the default). Dense layouts rearrange vertically at accessibility sizes rather than truncating.
Dark Interface
A full dark color scheme is applied across every screen, sheet, and widget, following your system appearance setting or the in-app appearance override.
Differentiate Without Color Alone
Rule status is always paired with text (“Safe”, “Warning”, “Exceeded”) and icons, never color alone. With the system setting enabled, calendar days with trips gain a hue-independent marker, and error messages pair an icon with the message.
Sufficient Contrast
Body text measures about 14:1 against its background and secondary text about 9:1 in both light and dark themes, comfortably above the WCAG AA threshold of 4.5:1. Status colors meet or exceed AA against the surfaces they appear on.
Reduced Motion
Every animation, transition, and decorative effect is disabled or replaced with a crossfade when Reduce Motion is on. Animated illustrations show equivalent static content instead of disappearing.

Tax Days contains no audio or video content, so captions and audio descriptions do not apply.

How we test

  • Every user-facing screen is reviewed against a checklist covering labels, traits, grouping, focus management, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, transparency, color independence, tap targets, and gesture alternatives.
  • We inspect the running app’s accessibility tree, the same element tree VoiceOver, Voice Control, and Switch Control consume, on every screen, and walk key flows with VoiceOver enabled.
  • Layouts are verified at the largest accessibility text size, in both light and dark appearance, and with Reduce Motion on.
  • Contrast ratios are computed directly from the app’s color definitions against WCAG 2.1 AA.

This website

We aim for WCAG 2.1 AA conformance on this site: semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, keyboard-operable navigation with visible focus states, text alternatives for meaningful images, and support for the reduced-motion preference. If you hit something on the site that doesn’t work with your assistive technology, we want to know.

Known limitations

  • Calendar day colors distinguish jurisdictions by hue; the spoken label and the Differentiate Without Color marker carry the same information, but a per-jurisdiction visual pattern is still on our list.
  • A few dense settings rows wrap awkwardly, though without losing content, at the very largest accessibility text sizes.

Feedback

If any part of Tax Days or this website is difficult or impossible to use with an assistive technology, email support@parra.io and describe what you were trying to do and the technology you were using. Accessibility reports are treated as bugs, not feature requests: they are triaged with the same priority as crashes and are typically answered within two business days.
